Solar System for Kids: Fun Facts & Activities
The Solar System is like a big space family! At the center is the Sun, a huge, hot ball of fire that gives light, warmth, and energy. All the planets, moons, and even tiny asteroids move around the Sun.
Our Solar System lives in a galaxy called the Milky Way, which is full of stars, planets, and other exciting things. Today, we are going to visit all the planets and learn fun facts about them!
Saturn
Saturn is a gas giant known for its beautiful rings made of ice, rock, and dust. Its pale yellow color makes it look like a dancing planet in the sky.
Science concept
Saturn is very light for its size — it would float in water if a bathtub were big enough!

Fun fact
Saturn has more than 80 moons, including the large icy moon Titan.

Parent tip
Saturn is huge but mostly gas, so it’s very light. Show your child with a large soft ball (Saturn) and a small solid ball (Earth) - the big ball is lighter, teaching that bigger doesn’t always mean heavier.
Make rings from paper or cardboard and place them around a ball to create Saturn.
